In 1984 the United States passed a law to raise the drinking age to 21 years of age. Since the inception of this law, the ongoing question has been "Should the legal drinking age be lowered back to 18 or should it remain at 21?"
One Special Interest Group in favor of keeping the drinking age at 21 is MADD-Mothers Against Drunk Driving. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has estimated that 18,220 lives have been saved due to an increased drinking age. Many adults feel the 18-21 age group cannot handle drinking responsibly, and therefore should NOT be permitted to do so. A group in favor to lowering the drinking age is LAFAA- Legalize Alcohol for all Adults. Their goal is lower the drinking age from 21-18, and to educate the public on responsible drinking. LAFAA belives that if you can vote, own a gun, drive,be drafted, sign legal documents,be sentenced to death or life in prison, and die for your country then you should have the right to have an alcoholic drink. Is the drinking age in America Unconstitutional???. Is it a form of age discrimination???. What do you think America should it remain at 21,or lowered to 18??.

I think the fact that the federal government has mandated states increase the drinking age to 21 is unconstitutional. States should decide issues such as these. I think that maybe there shouldn't be a drinking age. Why can't a mother and father sit down and have a glass of wine with their 16-year-old? If they do, then they can be charged with giving alcohol to minors and corrupting a youth and all this other stuff and no one was harmed in the action. Drinking laws only encourage bad behavior rather than responsible drinking supervised by adults.
I think everybody should stop drinking no matter what age we are because for me are legal drugs. We are just making "rich companies" and we became alcoholics.
You make a good point about if you are able to vote and die for your country, then you should be able to have a drink. I agree. I think one of the reasons there is such an abuse of alcohol is because it is forbidden to those under 21. And we all know that if it something is forbidden, that just makes a person want it more, especially when you are young. Great post!
I am from the other country, where people are allowed to drink beer with 16 and stronger alcohol with 18. And, if in the opinion of the government you are enough responsible to vote, to drive and to go to the army with 18(or even younger) you should be able to drink, too.
I think the drinking age should be lowered to 18. I am 18 and I like to have a drink every so offten. If people think that it is to dangerous well they should copermise with tose who want to lower it. Like say its ok however, they have to do within their home or the home of another.

They should legal the drinking age back to 18
1.Reason why is that kids are going to drink no matter what the parnets says.
2.18 year old are considre as an adult so the should be treated like an adult. So they should be alould to be able to drink.
I think that dropping the age for drinking is not a good idea, the reason for that is because there will be more violence and students are not going to put enough effort on school for partying with there friends. You do have a good point but I think that the age for drinking should stay at 21 for the safety of everyone.
i dont think it matters if you bring the age down or not 18 , 19 20 year olds if not younger are going to have a way to get a hold of alcohol.Im sure you and I always had a friend who was old enough to get a friend a alcoholic beverage . Maybe it just made it a lot more exiting to know you were doing something you really weren't supposed to but you were doing it anyway so my take is this I dont think it really matters , do I agree with lowering the age? ,of course not!!.. Good point
I think it should remain the same at 21, because I think the more you drink when you begin drinking the more you will need to have drinks and become an alcoholic.

Dear, Adriana i think that they should keep it as is also. Because their has been so many death's. And are continuing to be death's from people drinking and driving. Because their are so many people that drink, and don't stop too think. Before the get by hind the wheel of a car. And jeapordize not only their live's. But the live's of so many innocent people.
I agree but at the same time, a higher standard of responsility should be required. For an adult 18 years of age, like the army an G.E.D./HS dip. should be fulfilled or accomplished. If 18 your drivers license will be separate from your drinkers license until 21 and only one can be held at a time or until 21. If 18 drivers license can not purchase alcoholic beverages.
